Anyone selling cakes, gateaux and desserts commercially knows: the product sells through the eye. A professional refrigerated cake display keeps cream cakes hygienically at temperature and presents them so that guests at the counter buy on impulse. Unlike a simple fridge, it is built for visibility and continuous operation.
Which size fits my counter?
Our refrigerated display cases cover two typical business sizes: the more compact version at 92 cm wide with a 175-litre capacity suits smaller cafés, ice-cream parlours or bistros with a manageable selection. If counter space is tight, this is the one to choose – it needs little floor space yet displays the goods generously.
For busier counters – a bakery with steady all-day trade or a café with a broad gateau range – the larger variant at 125 cm wide and 255 litres is the better choice. More capacity means more varieties on show at once, less frequent restocking, and fewer trips to the cold store in the back room. Both models come with their own stand and sit at presentation height as a free-standing unit.
Cake display or gateau display — same appliance, different search
In practice the terms are used interchangeably. What is almost always meant is the same professional appliance: a refrigerated display case for baked goods, gateaux and desserts in commercial use. What matters are capacity, width, cooling performance and whether the unit is built for continuous operation. That is exactly what separates a commercial refrigerated display from small domestic appliances.
What to look for when buying (stand, visibility, cooling performance)
First, the stand: a display case with its own stand sits at the right height straight away and can be placed flexibly around the sales floor – even where there is no counter. Second, visibility: generous glazing means guests see the goods the moment they walk in; plan the position along the natural walking route. Third, cooling performance: in commercial use the display is opened many times per hour – the unit must hold its temperature even with frequent access, particularly for cream and custard-based products.
